The Adventure Begins!

I started my career with Schlumberger in Jakarta. Over the following 3 years that I was there, I worked on land and offshore rigs across Indonesia, learnt a lot, and made a lot of good friends! Fond memories from Jakarta will stay with me for the rest of my life.

  • 2005-2006: Field Engineer based in Jakarta. Led logging while drilling jobs for multiple customers across Jakarta, Duri & Balikpapan.

  • 2006-2007: Operations Support Engineer. Set up the first Operations Support Center in Jakarta and created the first processes, documentation and SOPs for how OSCs should operate.

  • Filed for patent for geo-stopping applications through monitoring of mud returns

  • 2007: Service Quality Manager. In-charge of service delivery, quality and failure investigation for all customers

Back Home…

I got to spend a few years back home in India, close to family, while moving up not just in my professional but also personal life… Married my forever sweetheart, Rakhi, in 2009 and we were blessed with our son, Aarav in 2012, while being close to my parents.

  • 2008-2009: Sales Engineer based in New Delhi. I was able to enter and grow our presence in Cairn India’s operations, a long time gap in the SLB client portfolio in India.

  • 2009-2013: Location Manager based in Bombay (now Mumbai). I was in-charge of all our ONGC operations for directional drilling and logging/measurement while drilling, supported by a team of over 150 people. ONGC operations in India spanned from the remote land areas in north east India, to the offshore Bombay High fields, from the land operations in south India to the deepwater operations off the coast of eastern India.

Nature at it’s best!

Life gave us the opportunity to live in Alaska for 3 years. While it was quite the change from the sweltering heat of Mumbai, we enjoyed every moment there soaking in the natural beauty of the untouched beauty of Alaska’s natural landscape.

  • Operations Manager for Drilling & Measurements in Alaska

  • Managed all aspects of SLB’s directional drilling business in Alaska including operations management, business development and full financial ownership by leading a team of around 160 people.

  • Turned the business around, significantly improving the revenue and profitability.

  • Oversaw the construction and commissioning of SLB’s state of the art maintenance facility in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska which improved our efficiency, job capacity and service delivery for customers across the North Slope.

  • Pioneered implementation of a fully performance based contract for ConocoPhillips in Alaska, significantly reducing the cost to drill wells for them by improving drilling efficiency.

  • ConocoPhillips recognized our contributions with the ‘2015 Global Supplier Recognition Award’ for ‘Doing Business Better’ category.

  • My team & I were awarded the 2016 Performed by Schlumberger Gold award by the CEO for the business turn-around in Alaska.

Lagos, Nigeria

Harmony in chaos

After 3 years in the frigid weather of Alaska, work took us to the sweltering African heat of Lagos in Nigeria. It was a short but fun stay there, made possible by the lovely people we met, both locals as well as expats.

  • Drilling & Measurements Operations Manager for West Africa covering all countries west of Nigeria in the African continent.

  • Managed all aspects of SLB’s directional drilling business in West Africa including operations management, business development and full financial ownership by leading a team of around 250 people.

  • Stabilized business during a rapidly declining oil & gas industry in the middle of the 2016 oil price crash.

Beautiful people… beautiful countryside… beautiful experiences.

From Nigeria, we moved to the land of the Dracula… Romania! From the bustling streets of Bucharest to the serene landscape of the famous Transylvania, the country is as beautiful as its people!

  • Eastern Hemisphere Commercial Manager for Drilling & Measurements. I was incharge of the commercial performance in the entire eastern hemisphere east of the Atlantic Ocean, from Europe and Africa to Australia and everything in between.

  • Part of team that setup and started the Eastern Hemisphere Commercial Center

  • Created processes and tools for centralizing and industrializing SLB’s commercial responses

  • Established processes and systems to ensure commercial governance and pricing discipline across 4 continents, to be able to efficiently deliver winning commercial proposals

  • Improved Drilling & Measurements’ market share in the eastern hemisphere

The land of the free…

Life has settled for us over the last few years in Houston. Not only have we diversified our business engagements outside of our jobs, Houston also has felt like home because of the number of college mates that live here.

  • VP & Global Sales & Commercial Manager – BHA, incharge of the worldwide revenue and business development of Drilling & Measurements (not called Well Construction Measurements).

  • Strategized and implemented global business expansion & pricing improvements
  • Steered the business revenue successfully through the turbulent O&G downturn in 2020

  • Successfully established and expanded Well Construction Measurement’s foray into equipment sales

  • Successfully expanded market share of the business each year
